Join us for Roots Across Borders: Khmu Diaspora Cultural Exchange & Language 101, a special installment of the ASEAN Language Program Series highlighting the history, resilience, and living culture of the Khmu (Kmhmu’) people—Indigenous to Laos and now part of a vibrant U.S. diaspora.
This event is presented in partnership with the Khmu National Federation (KNF), a national nonprofit organization dedicated to uniting Khmu communities across the United States and preserving cultural heritage through language, education, arts, and community engagement.
This virtual event brings together community leaders, educators, and cultural advocates to explore the Khmu journey from their ancestral homelands to resettlement in the United States. Participants will gain insight into the historical impacts of displacement, the formation of Khmu communities across the U.S., and the importance of preserving language and cultural identity across generations.
