About the event

This year for Native American Heritage Month, the US ASEAN Young Professionals Association, will uplift the work of Ms. Caressa Nguyen, Climate Activists and Co-Founder of Sacred Lands, Native Hands. She will discuss her work on Climate Action both in the United States and abroad, and embracing her mixed heritage of Native American and ASEAN descent. Caressa Nguyen is tribal citizen of the Ione Band of Miwok Indians, as well as being Vietnamese and Filipino. She promotes the sovereignty of tribal nations, advocates for marginalized communities and fosters Asian American and Indigenous solidarity. Diop Harris II (moderator) is a tribal citizen of Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi. He works on Capitol Hill and is member of the Senate Black Legislative Staff Caucus.
